Vjosa–Narta: Chapter 27

Submitted

On 13 July 2026, United Diaspora for Albania submitted a civil-society evidence dossier to the European Parliament’s Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety (ENVI). It placed Vjosa–Narta / Pishë Poro–Nartë within Albania’s Chapter 27 accession obligations and asked for transparent, lawful and EU-compatible environmental decision-making before any irreversible works proceed.

The dossier was submitted by United Diaspora for Albania (UDA) and institutionally endorsed by RiverWatch, EcoAlbania, AlbNatyra, Agrien, Illyrian Brains and Unë Gruaja. ADCN, operating within UDA’s umbrella, now presents and continues this policy and evidence work.

Progress to date

  1. The principal record was assembled

A source-based chronology covered permitting, site activity, inspection, environmental assessment and institutional responses.

  2. The dossier was submitted to ENVI

The submission combined the factual chronology, Albanian legal framework, Chapter 27 analysis, evidence index and questions for follow-up.

  3. ENVI held an exchange with the Commission

The official European Parliament record confirms an exchange on Albania’s Chapter 27 negotiations in the context of possible projects affecting the Vjosa–Narta protected area.

This is a civil-society briefing, not an official European Parliament or European Commission document. The public record confirms that the 14 July exchange took place; it does not establish that ENVI adopted or endorsed the submission.
